Boy Smells: A review of Instagram's favorite candle brand
I am a huge scented candle person. I love Bath and Body Works as much as the next person, but I wanted to try something a little more premium. Boy Smells is a company I had seen on Instagram, but never purchased. As a treat myself moment, I bought three candles for summer and wanted to share my thoughts with you.
This candle has a lot of herbal notes including oregano and basil along with a "kush" scent. It doesn't smell like straight up smoke, more like someone was smoking in an italian garden of herbs. It leans more nighttime than daytime scentwise for me, but I love it for the summer. It is fresh and unique without being too heavy. Of the candles I bought, this has the best throw for me and is easy to smell when it isn't burning. They have other candles in their "kush" line, I think Cowboy Kush is the one I'd like to try next (let me know your thoughts on it if you've tried it!)
Sky Ting is my favorite yoga studio and I do their online classes often. This candle is another really unique scent. It is sweet, but also has a little zing (almost citrusy to my nose) from the sichuan peppercorns and a subtle smoke to it. This is a beautiful summertime day scent. It also has really good throw both cold and when burning, although less than the Italian Kush candle. When you purchase this candle it comes with a one month trial to Sky Ting TV, which I adore (and is a great reason alone to purchase!)
This is their collaboration candle with Kacey Musgraves. It has the most stunning ombre glass with a metallic pink label and pink wax. This is a very sweet scent and definitely feminine smelling. I would die for a perfume that smells like this candle. It is sweet with a little musk and definitely smells like incense, so if you're not a fan this isn't the candle for you. I adore the smell of this candle, but probably wouldn't repurchase because the throw is not great even when it's burning.
Final thoughts: I don't know if Boy Smells lived up to the hype. The candles really tunneled (a little foil over the top fixed it, but you'd think a $40 candle would be better) and there are other companies that give more bang for their buck. This company makes really unique smelling candles and I love every scent that I got, but I am more likely to buy this for a friend as a present than for myself.
Let me know if you've ever tried Boy Smells and what your thoughts are below!
