What I Watched In September: The Patient, Tell Me Lies, and More!

This fall has already had so many wonderful television shows and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you in case you're looking for some inspo. Some of these are new, some of these are old, but all of them have brought me joy this past month.

The Patient - FX and Hulu

This is SO GOOD. I love that it's a 30 minute show because the plot moves quickly and I never find myself getting bored watching it. I also really enjoy having a show that airs weekly because it gives me something to look forward to. Both actors do really good work and I love the character development between the psychologist and the serial killer patient trying not to kill through the show so far. Very excited to see how this show finishes in the coming weeks.

Tell Me Lies - Hulu

I really enjoyed Nine Perfect Strangers and thought that Grace Van Patten was excellent in it and I am really enjoying her back on the screen in Tell Me Lies. This is a television adaptation of the book of the same name and covers the lives and relationship of a couple starting in college spanning 8 years. There is a decent amount of nudity in this show, so viewer beware, but the acting is really excellent and the early 2000s fashion, makeup, and blackberry phones are the throwback I never knew I needed.

Iron Chef - Netflix

The Iron Chef reboot has been out for a while now, but I haven't had a chance to watch it until recently. I really like the format where you get a little more backstory into the chefs and also the idea of one contestant going against all the iron chefs at the end. Also, as a Top Chef fan I adore Kristen Kish and love that she is co-hosting with Alton Brown. Unlike the previous shows, this is a lighter watch that I don't take as seriously so it's usually on in the background when I'm cooking or cleaning.

Selena and Chef Season 4 - HBO

Selena and Chef has really been one of the best things to come out of the pandemic. The premise of the show is that she invites professional chefs to teach her how to cook a meal over zoom while they are in their respective kitchens. It is a really light, fun, show and I love the summer vibes of this latest season as it was filmed in Malibu.

Gilmore Girls - Netflix

The weather is cooling down, so it's Gilmore Girls season. This is a show that I watch every year around this time because it is comforting and just gives me all the cozy fall vibes. This is another background show in my house and I love it.

Let me know what you've been watching lately. This past month I also watched the Bachelorette, but it was a hot mess and really not that enjoyable of the season so I might not even watch Bachelor in Paradise this year (also, don't get me started on Zach as the next Bachelor. I was team Ethan all the way). I have also only just started the Bear. I have no thoughts on it yet, but it came highly recommended so I'm sure I'll like it.
