In 2022 we're not making resolutions, we're setting intentions
This year has started with less enthusiasm and excitement as previous years. Last year vaccines were beginning to roll out and there was a sense of hope that the pandemic would end soon. Now, nearly two years into the pandemic it is clear that there will be no normal for a while longer. Because of this, I've given myself a lot of grace about my new years resolutions and intentions. A few weeks late, but hopefully still a little useful, here are my 2022 intentions below.
My overarching goal or word for the year is intention. Living a more intentional life, making decisions actively and not by default, choosing my path instead of staying on the one my past self has set. This also impacts every aspect of my life: being intentional about who I am spending time with, what I am spending time on, how I am spending my money, what I am feeding myself, the projects I choose to take on at work. I see this as a mindset shift for myself. And sure, it won't be perfect all the time and I am positive there will be moments I let myself lapse into inaction, but I'm hoping by the end of the year I come out a happier more confident human.
I didn't assign a word to 2021, but looking back, 2021 was a year of growth for me. I was involved in a car accident where I had to advocate for myself to get adequate medical care and insurance reimbursement in a way that I had never needed to before. I found myself playing around with work life balance, evaluating my priorities, and really falling in love with every aspect of my life. I did a lot of personal work including three months of life coaching that gave me perspective and acted as a sort of reset for myself.
I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season and are having an abundant 2022. If you feel so inclined, I'd love to hear what your intentions for the new year are below.
