Top 5 Clothing Items from Christy Dawn

Through my journey of sustainable fashion, I found the California based company Christy Dawn. They are so transparent about why their garments cost what they do and even show a picture of the dressmaker that made each garment on their website. Recently, they invested in growing their own organic cotton in India, dying fabric with plant dyes, and even allow customers to invest through their Land Stewardship program.

Over the past few years I've purchased a few Christy Dawn items and thought I would share my favorites with you today. Their patterns and fabrics change with each collection, but the styles of dresses remain the same.

1) The Earth Tee

I have the pink color, but they also have white, black, blue, and yellow. I was hesitant to spend so much on a plain cotton tee, but it is fantastic. The fabric is soft and thick and feels much more substantial than the basics I would purchase in the past. It is a slightly boxy fit and I got a size small, but I think I could've sized up for a more relaxed fit.

2/3) Dawn Dress and Dawn Jumper

This dress is my favorite because it is so easy to dress up or down. I have one in a deadstock linen floral that looks and feels fancy, but I also have an organic cotton block printed one that is more casual and perfect for summer days. This dress has a V-neck snap closure and a drawstring waist. The jumper is similar except that instead of a flowy skirt it has a wide legged pant legs instead. I am 5'0" and the regular dawn dress is the perfect length for me, although it is more maxi than midi on me. The jumper runs longer and I either need to wear heels with it or get it hemmed a couple inches.

4) The Billy Overall

I am a big fan of overalls. They are just so casual and cool and look like you tried a little harder than just jeans and a tee. There are three different washes of the Billy Overall, I have the mid-wash (moonwash). Once again the length of the pant is a little long for my frame, but the rest of the overall is well proportioned and flattering.

5) The Salem Sweater

This is a surprise favorite for me. I never, ever though I would spend so much on loungewear, but this has become one of my favorite pieces. It is a cropped cotton sweater with a drawstring hood. It comes in gray, black, and blue (I have blue!). It is so soft and surprisingly warm, although I would consider this more of a fall/spring sweater than a winter one. I got mine in a large because I wanted it extra cozy and I would definitely recommend sizing up if you want a looser fit. I am usually a small, but the large fits loose and perfect. The sleeves are the only part that is slightly long, but the cuffs are elastic so I don't notice it much.
