The 2018 Summer Skincare Routine

A year ago I did a Summer Skincare Routine blog post that has been super popular! I've gone through a little bit of a change this year and have minimized my skincare products so I thought I would re-write the post!

Morning
In the morning, I usually just splash my face with water and pat to dry. I have combo skin and I don't like washing or moisturizing in the morning because it can make parts of my face dry out or become greasy throughout the day.

Night
I usually double wash my face to remove makeup and cleanse. I use whatever face wash is cheapest, lately it has been this one from target, and my Foreo Luna mini. I adore my Foreo and have been using it for over a year now! It really helps remove excess oil and it leaves me feeling clean, but not dry. After washing, I use my clinique eye makeup remover if I still have residual waterproof mascara on and then moisturize. I'm not picky with my moisturizer and I cycle through a lot of them. I really like the clinique gel for a higher end option, but I use the generic target moisturizer just as often.

Sun
If I'm going to be in the sun, I apply tons of sunscreen. I use a cream sunscreen (this one is what I currently use) because aerosols are bad for the environment and don't apply as evenly. I never use tanning oils on my skin because you can still get a tan while wearing sunscreen and I want to avoid burning because it increases your risk of skin cancer.

Weekly
I try to exfoliate with a scrub a couple times a week and do a face mask once a week. I like apricot scrubs to exfoliate. I know they can be really abrasive and not so great with individuals with rosacea or other pigmentation problems, but I like the way it makes my skin feel. For face masks, I usually use a korean hydrating sheet mask. The ones from the face shop or nature republic are really good.

My skincare routine is very simple, but works for me. In the fall and winter I like adding serums and eye creams, but the summer is my time to let my skin breathe a little more. Let me know in the comments how you like to change your skincare routine for the summer and if you have a really good face sunscreen because I'm on the market for one!

  1. I've become so lazy with my skincare routine over the past year so I'm trying to getting back to being strict with it again - I'm a bit opposite to you though I tend to do most of my face stuff in the morning and next to nothing at night because I get so tired!

  2. Some nights I literally can't bring myself to do anything except remove my makeup because I'm so tired! What products do you use in the morning?
